“I’m smart, I should be able to overpower ADHD and be motivated on my own, right?
OUR APPROACH: ADHD & FOCUS ISSUES
I’ll let you in on a secret: ADHD symptoms do not occur because you’re just not trying hard enough.
Like a raging river, ADHD can feel wild, untamed. There are twists and turns in your focus that you may feel powerless against. You may be attempting to focus or complete one task, only to find yourself an hour later working on something else that is completely irrelevant towards your daily goals. ADHD can creep into your personal relationships - getting easily distracted during conversations or having difficulty following through on plans, unintentionally leaving others feeling unheard or disappointed. Sometimes, the impulsivity that comes with ADHD can lead to moments of saying or doing things without thinking, which can catch both parties off guard.
I can help you enhance your focus, organize your thoughts, and improve your professional and personal relationships through ADHD treatment. Together, we navigate the complexities of ADHD by tailoring a plan that suits your unique needs. I combine various methods, including therapy, medication, lifestyle adjustments, and potentially alternative approaches, to provide a comprehensive toolkit for managing ADHD symptoms effectively. Beyond just alleviating symptoms, my goal is to empower you with strategies that enhance daily functioning and overall well-being.
“Why didn’t anyone tell me I had ADHD sooner?”
The all-too-common story of women with ADHD
OUR APPROACH: WOMEN WITH ADHD
Symptoms of ADHD in females can look differently than their male peers, often leading to symptoms being undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.
In childhood, boys may be more prone to disruptive behavior (shouting, yelling, climbing on things), leading to a more prompt diagnosis of ADHD. Girls, however, oftentimes require higher levels of stress or stimuli for ADHD symptoms to emerge. Once this level of stress is reached, there is an opportunity for clinicians to misdiagnose the overwhelmed young woman with depression, anxiety, or other diagnoses.
By the time a woman reaches her 30s or 40s and has undiagnosed ADHD, she is more than likely to experience more than one psychological disorder. She may experience physical complaints - like headaches or stomachaches, and my often experience hypersensitivity to lights and sounds.
If you experience some of these signs and symptoms, it may be beneficial to seek an assessment and treatment for ADHD:
Time management difficulty (always showing up late)
Inability getting organized
Constant overwhelmed feelings
Having a history of depression and/or anxiety
Having money management issues
I will work with you to not only conduct a thorough ADHD assessment, but also tailor a customized ADHD coaching program to optimize your time management skills more efficiently. Medications, supplements, functional lab testing, and lifestyle modifications may all be integrated to give you a comprehensive treatment to lead to your most optimal, thoughtful self.
